Refinish Antique Furniture
Tips and Techniques From 33 Years of
Experience!
I've been refinishing furniture for over 33
years. My goal is to expand this
website to become a total knowledge base on
refinishing antique furniture. I want to help you learn how to
refinish your valuable antiques and save you money at the
same time.
"Does it hurt the value to refinish an
antique?"
The answer is...... IT DEPENDS
!
If you have an old piece that is slightly
damaged in a few areas and color could be added back to those
areas then its possible to do what I call "refurbishing."
Basically is working with the finish you have and keeping
the same color and patina. However if you get a piece
that is painted then unless you like the paint you should
absolutely strip it using my gental flow over-process and
start from scratch with new stain and finish. The piece will be
much more valuable when you go to sell it.
You can restore your older pieces of
furniture much less than buying equally made new
furniture in most cases, plus it will retain its value as
opposed to many modern furniture pieces that are nothing
more than sawdust, glue and veneer.
Many time people have had things restored by
me that belong to a beloved family member. I take great
pride in working on these pieces because I know
that I'm restoring the good memories of that special
loved one for that customer.
Restoring your antique furniture will assure
that your investment will continue to grow!
We are experienced at advising you with all
your furniture refinishing needs and
will show you what we should be done
to enhance the value of your
precious heirlooms.
